T.I.D.E. Project: call opens for Sicilian fishing and seafood tourism operators
After months of preparation and coordination, the T.I.D.E. project – Tradition, Inclusivity, Diversification, and Ecotourism for Sustainable Seas – takes an important step forward by officially opening the call for operators in fishing tourism and seafood tourism active in Sicily.
This is a strategic initiative that places the territory’s key players at the center: fishermen, sea entrepreneurs, families, and cooperatives who every day preserve traditions, knowledge, and best practices connected to the maritime heritage of our island.
The call has a dual objective. On one hand, it aims to listen to the real needs of operators—from organizational challenges to untapped potential—and on the other, to co-design a regenerative tourism offering that integrates sustainable fishing, environmental education, food and wine experiences, and storytelling of the territories.
In the coming months, participatory meetings and focus groups will be organized across the region, where operators can engage with tourism experts, marine biologists, and facilitators, actively contributing to the definition of the project’s guidelines. Every contribution will be invaluable in building a blue tourism model that truly meets the needs of coastal communities.
If you work in fishing or seafood tourism, this is a concrete opportunity to make your voice heard and contribute to the sustainable development of Sicily’s coastal areas.
