Two meetings focused on the development of fishing and seafood tourism are underway in Sicily as part of the T.I.D.E. project – Tradition, Inclusivity, Diversification, and Ecotourism for Sustainable Seas. The events, open to active operators and those looking to start a business in the sector, aim to gather field data, understand the needs of businesses, and foster new synergies between tourism, food and wine, and sustainability.
The official dates of the meetings will be announced in the coming days. Participation is free, but pre-registration via the online form, already available, is required. Both events will be organized in a participatory format, with guided focus groups and collective completion of questionnaires to map the real characteristics and needs of the sector.
Engage to Build: Youth, Women, and Local Supply Chains in the Development of Fishing Tourism
The goal of these meetings is not only to inform but to collaboratively build a shared growth path, valuing both those already active in the sector and those looking to enter it. Special attention will be given to engaging young people under 35, women entrepreneurs, and operators working in areas with diverse socioeconomic characteristics, to foster a more equitable, regenerative, and innovative tourism supply chain.
Fishing and seafood tourism represent one of the most promising levers to strengthen coastal territorial identity, diversify fishermen’s income, and offer visitors authentic experiences connected to the sea, local traditions, as well as the cuisine and culture of seaside villages.
The T.I.D.E. Project: Sustainability and Territorial Regeneration
The meetings are an integral part of the T.I.D.E. project, which aims to promote new forms of tourism focused on environmental sustainability, the value of local communities, and the regeneration of coastal areas. The data collected during the meetings will be used to develop concrete tools to support operators, from training to access to networks and collaborations.
